About This Course
Self-advocacy and assertiveness can be challenging, yet are imperative in order to create positive change as and on behalf of women. This is a training on supporting women’s self-advocacy and assertiveness led by social worker Lauren Tetenbaum, who specializes in women's mental health and gender equity. Participants will be encouraged to explore the perceptions and benefits of assertiveness/advocacy, reflect on values, and learn how to effectively communicate their needs (and help their clients do the same) in a variety of settings.
Key Learning Objectives:
- Participants will develop skills related to acknowledging and overcoming gender-based biases, setting boundaries, improving psychological health, and engaging in advocacy personally, professionally, and beyond.
Course admission requirements:
Minimum of a Master's Degree in a mental health or related field; or be a student in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field. In Low- and Middle-Income Countries, a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field is required.
HOURS
Monday - Friday: 9:00am -5:00pm*
Closures: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas.
